A refresh of the popular Supervising For Success leadership development training from Samaritan Consulting Group, this program improves the skills of the new, or emerging, leader. Participants will gain knowledge and practice managing others, and complete the program with increased confidence in their role as an effective leader.
This is a five-session workshop, with each session lasting three hours from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. It will take on Tuesdays in the training room at Samaritan, with the initial session on September 27. Following training sessions will occur on October 4, October 18, November 1 and November 15, and you can register for one session.

Session One: The Role of Leader and Manager (Sept. 27)
Helps new leaders be more successful by helping them understand the supervising process, the skills it requires and the realities of being a supervisor.
Session Two: Communicating with Clarity (Oct. 4)
Improves communication between reports and managers with guidance on questions to ask, effective listening, and clarifying and confirming.
Session Three: Team Engagement (Oct. 18)
Increases leader confidence and effectiveness by exploring the questions to ask while determining the process and setting objectives.
Session Four: Effective Delegation (Nov. 1)
Teaches leaders how to be more efficient and effective through the combination of interaction skills including leadership, communication and motivation.
Session Five: Collaboration and Creative Problem Solving (Nov. 15)
Prepares managers to make effective decision by showing how to define the problem, identify and evaluate solutions, develop and implement an action plan, and follow through and evaluate results.
The Instructor
Partnering Consultant Lori Berquist will serve as the trainer for this series. Lori brings 30 years of human resources knowledge and experience in the financial industry. Her commitment to leadership education, development and succession planning is rooted in her initial career focus in employee relations and employment law. Lori has a master’s degree in adult education/counseling from West Chester University and is certified as a professional coach.
