2023: Year-In-Review

As the curtain closes on 2023, we are filled with immense gratitude for a truly incredible year. We invite you to read on for some highlights.

In May, we hosted our annual Sea Glass Gala at the Lancaster Country Club and raised over $25,000!

In October, Samaritan Center received a large bequest from the estate of Audrey Walker Warfield. Mrs. Warfield’s generosity and forethought will not only benefit us, but it will also allow other notable local non-profits to continue their important work in our community. You can learn more about the bequest here.

Samaritan Center hosted its annual Ethics in Business Awards Ceremony in late October. Since 2007, we have highlighted businesses, companies, and organizations in Lancaster that are committed to operating ethically. This year’s event was held on the Franklin and Marshall College campus at the Barshinger Center. The recipient of the 2023 Ethics in Business award was EUROFINS. Please visit our Facebook Page for photos and a brief recap – and be sure to keep an eye out for information on the 2024 nomination process!

In early November, our annual Silent Samaritan Luncheon was once again held at Calvary Church, with 220 women in attendance. Attendees enjoyed an inspirational talk by Timbrel Chyatee followed by lunch and fellowship with new and old friends alike. The generosity of our Silent Samaritans will allow us to continue providing counseling subsidies to women and their families who might not otherwise be able to afford therapy.

As the weather turned cool, we held a Chili Cook-Off at RLPS Architects, which provided board members and staff with the opportunity to get to know each other – and sample some delicious chili!

In the penultimate month of the year, 205 donors helped us raise $32,211 in the ExtraGive! This wouldn’t have been possible without our staff, board members, and volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure a successful campaign.

In December, Samaritan Center staff gathered in fellowship at the Inn at Leola Village for their annual Christmas Luncheon. TeenHope program staff decorated ornaments for the Center’s Hope Tree during their holiday party – and wrote cards for Mental Health America Lancaster’s Compeer program.

Samaritan Center surpassed 14,000 counseling sessions in 2023, our highest clinical activity to date! We look forward to continuing this momentum next year. The Samaritan Consulting Group conducted senior-level executive searches for non-profits, private companies, educational institutions, and public authorities in the South Central PA region, as well as on a statewide and national level. Overall, the group was able to successfully close all searches in three months or less.

Our TeenHope program staff screened 556 students this fall across Elizabethtown High School, Lampeter-Strasburg High School, Lancaster Country Day School, Warwick High School, and Pequea Valley Intermediate and High School. The program continues to make an incredible impact on the youth in our local community!

As we prepare for 2024 with joyful anticipation, we wish you and yours a happy and healthy New Year!
