Our premarital counseling program begins with the PREPARE/ENRICH relationship assessment. As the most comprehensive premarital assessment tool available, this online survey helps you and your partner identify the unique strengths and potential growth areas of your relationship.
It does this by assessing major areas of your relationship, including:
- 12 Relationship Scales such as communication, conflict resolution, roles, finances, spiritual beliefs and more
- Personality Scales
- Couple and Family Scales
- Relationship Dynamic Scales
- 30 Customized Scales
Samaritan’s premarital counseling couples this assessment with a two-hour session with one of our premarital counselors. This can help you:
- Identify strength and growth areas
- Explore personality traits
- Strengthen communication skills
- Resolve conflicts and reduce stress
- Compare family backgrounds
- Comfortably discuss financial issues
- Establish personal, couple, and family goals
What To Expect In Premarital Counseling
Premarital counseling with Samaritan Counseling Center includes the PREPARE/ENRICH inventory, the scoring of the inventory, handouts and a two-hour session with our premarital counselor, Judith Kennedy.
The PREPARE/ENRICH assessment is the first step of the process. It is taken online and requires approximately 45 minutes to complete. Please note that couples should take this assessment individually, and they should not discuss their answers until after the inventory has been submitted for scoring.
After taking the assessment, you and your partner then meet with a licensed counselor for premarital counseling.
Samaritan’s premarital counseling also provides couples with the “Building a Strong Marriage Workbook,” which contains exercises for developing skills in resolving conflict, setting goals as a couple, and developing a budget.
The fee is $225 per couple. If a member of a Partner in Ministry church, the fee is $200 per couple.
