Dance to release, reconnect, and restore.

Come dance with us! Starting Friday, April 19, join Samaritan Center for a brand-new 6-week dance program taking place at Move It Studio, on the second floor of our North Market location in downtown Lancaster. Taught by Renée Kurz, LPC, BC-DMT, this class will focus on offering movement experiences that support releasing stress and tension held in the body, reconnecting with yourself, and restoring a sense of vitality. Renée will guide you through both structured movement sequences and improvisational prompts from a stance of invitation, where listening to your body’s needs and impulses is foremost. Some verbal sharing will also be invited throughout to promote a sense of community. Open to all adult women. No dance experience necessary.

While each class can stand alone, you are encouraged to attend as many as your schedule allows to experience the most benefit. “New research finds that undertaking structured dance of any genre is generally equal and occasionally more effective than other types of physical activity interventions for improving a range of psychological and cognitive outcomes.” (Source: Dance Your Way To Better Health)

Teacher Bio:
Renée has been dancing ever since she can remember. She followed this love through college earning a BFA in dance, then sharing the love as a youth dance educator for eight years. During this time, she danced with a range of modern dance companies, while also further pursuing different outlets of social service. In 2016, Renée felt called to bring together her love of dance and service, earning her MA in Dance/Movement Therapy from Drexel University in 2018. Since then, she has been honored to work with a range of ages and needs as a licensed professional counselor and board-certified dance/movement therapist.
