Our Team: Counselors

Ellen Kanagy, MSW, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Ellen is a licensed clinical social worker who earned her master’s degree at Marywood University. She has more than 25 years of professional experience working with all age groups in a variety of settings. She currently works primarily with adults, focusing on issues such as anxiety and depression, life transitions, living with illness, grief and loss issues, stress management, communication and conflict resolution, relationships, personal growth, and spiritual issues.

Ellen’s style is warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental as she seeks to help clients find new perspectives and solutions for dealing with challenges in their lives. She uses an eclectic approach, drawing from client-centered, family systems, solution-oriented, strengths-based, and cognitive-behavioral interventions to support positive change and growth. Ellen holds a certificate in spiritual direction. She also can include Enneagram learning and application in sessions with clients already familiar with the Enneagram (and occasionally teaches workshops on this personality typing system). Ellen believes art, music, and poetry are also often beneficial for self-expression, comfort, insight, and healing.

Ellen is not taking new clients at this time.
